What: DOGGIE TREAT RAFFLE

When: Sunday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: Beard Brook Park, 400 S. Morton Blvd.

Info: Modesto High School’s Paws Rescue Club is holding a doggie treat raffle to benefit homeless pets and owners in conjunction with Church in the Park, a weekly church service and meal provided for homeless people. What: CALIFORNIA DISCLOSE ACT AND DEMOCRACTIC CLUB MEETINGS

Info: A special meeting on the California Disclose Act, AB700, will feature guest speaker David Schmidt, regional coordinator of the California Clean Money Campaign, who will help organize a local chapter. A Central Valley Democratic Club meeting will follow, featuring guest speaker Joe A. Souza, president of the Stanislaus County Democratic Central Committee, who will speak on the organization of the California Democratic Party. Nonmembers are welcome. What: EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

Where: Modesto Junior College, Science Community Center, west campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave.

Info: The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project and Operation Green are hosting an Earth Day celebration featuring ideas on how to recycle, protect the environment, conserve energy and “live green.” Participants include the MJC Great Valley Museum, Tuolumne River Trust, Citizen’s Climate Lobby and Sierra Club. After the fair will be two Earth Day screenings of the film “Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” at 4 and 6 p.m. For more information, call professor Elizabeth McInnes at (209) 575-6299.
