100 YEARS AGO: For the fourth time in three years, the proposed rezoning of 9.4 acres at Briggsmore Avenue and Oakdale Road for commercial use was denied by the Modesto City Council. By a vote of 4-3, the council denied the request of Dr. Warren M. Soelling for the rezoning to commercial use.
