Rain in Modesto, snow in the hills possible this weekend
A pair of storm systems moving into the Northern San Joaquin Valley this weekend could bring some rain to the lower elevations and desperately-needed snow to the mountains.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement, saying winter weather is likely Sunday through Thursday, with up to a foot of snow falling in the higher elevations.
“Given the long stretch of warm weather, many trans-Sierra drivers will likely be ill-prepared for wintry weather; complacency is a major concern,” forecasters said in an alert.
The storms are expected to move in Saturday, following sunny and breezy days Thursday and Friday. Forecasters say there is a 30 percent chance of rain in Modesto on Easter Sunday, with a slight chance of showers Monday and Tuesday.
