New Ceres fire chief sworn in
Ceres Fire Chief Bryan Nicholes was sworn in Monday evening, along with two captains and a firefighter.
More than 100 people attended the ceremony at the Ceres Community Center. Nicholes was appointed to the position in mid-March after serving more than eight months as acting chief.
He used the occasion to recognize a firefighter and two captains who had not had a swearing-in ceremony since they were hired or promoted.
William Dyer was hired as a firefighter in 2013 under a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
Capts. Joseph Spani and Mike Gomes were promoted within the past few years, Nicholes said.
