What: PET ADOPTIONS

Info: Pupz N Palz Animal Rescue is holding an Eggstravaganza Easter fundraiser featuring pet adoptions, vendors, a DJ, food, raffle and bake sale. An egg hunt for kids under 12 begins at 1 p.m. There will be clowns, games and face painting, along with Easter Bunny photos for people and pets. Riverbank

What: SENIOR HEALTH AND NUTRITION PROGRAM

Where: Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe St.

Info: The Healthy Aging Association, Area Agency on Aging and Howard Training Center present the “Eat Better, Move Better Program.” Seniors 60 years or older are welcome to participate. The program is a free, short, interactive nutrition and physical activity session offered once a week for four weeks. For more information, call (209) 523-2800.


Sonora

What: FUEL-WOOD PERMIT SALES

When: April 1 through Nov. 30

Where: Stanislaus National Forest supervisor’s office, 19777 Greenley Road

Info: The Stanislaus National Forest has fuel-wood permits available to purchase. The charge is $25 for a 21/2-cord permit, maximum of 10 cords per household. For more information, call (209) 532-3671.


Groveland

What: WRITING CLASS

When: Saturdays, April 25 through May 30

Where: Groveland branch of the Tuolumne County Library, 18990 Main St.

Info: Published author and columnist Bill Manville will teach a class, “Writing to Get Published.” It will run for six consecutive Saturdays. Class is free and open to students of all ages. For more information or to register to attend, call the Groveland Library at (209) 962-6144.

YESTERYEARS

100 YEARS AGO: The high school tennis teams for Modesto and Sacramento meet at the Graceada Park tennis courts for a match. Modesto students, Ralph Greer, singles player, and Alvin Carson and Ralph Kewin, doubles. In a similar match from the previous year in Sacramento, Greer won the singles match for Modesto, while Sacramento won the doubles.
