Firefighters on Monday evening rescued a man who was knocked off his bicycle by a low tree limb while riding on a dirt trail in Kewin Park.

The man fell down a 25-foot bank into Dry Creek, said Modesto Fire Department spokeswoman Jessica Smart.

The man hit a fallen tree in Dry Creek and somehow became wedged beneath it.

The man’s wife, with whom he was riding, called 911 about 6:15 p.m.

Smart said firefighters had to cut some limbs and branches in the area to allow them more room to move him.

Firefighters put the injured man in a metal basket and used ropes to pull him up.

The rescue took about an hour.

The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. His condition was not known Tuesday.
