Honorees are Viji Sundar, professor of mathematics and director of mathematics grants and sponsored programs at California State University, Stanislaus, and Margo F. Souza, retired president and CEO of Turlock’s Circle H Dairy Ranch and founder of the Margo F. Souza Leadership Center at the University of California, Merced. Info: Denair Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is accepting electronic waste free of charge. Accepted items are TVs, monitors, laptops, CPUs, e-readers, cellphones, printers, fax machines, copiers and scanners. All proceeds will benefit the students of Denair Unified School District.

YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: The Hotel Hughson, a six-story building in downtown Modesto, fell to foreclosure and was planned to go on the auction block April 17. In its heyday, the 102-room hotel entertained guests in the top-floor ballroom and basement swimming pool.
