Car careens into woman after crash in Modesto
A woman suffered major injuries after a car careened onto the sidewalk on which she was walking Friday in Modesto.
About 1 p.m., a driver pulled out of the Burger King parking lot on Oakdale Road and sideswiped another vehicle traveling north on Oakdale, according to the Modesto Police Department.
The vehicle that was hit lost control and careened onto the sidewalk, where it struck the elderly woman, as well as a Modesto Irrigation District power pole, police said.
The woman was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
The MID power pole was sheared off and MID was responding to make the necessary repairs.
All of Oakdale Road between Orangeburg Avenue and Wylie Drive was shut down.
The incident is under investigation, police said.
