Girl Scout Cookie sales end Sunday
Only a few days remain before Girl Scout Cookie sales end for this year – the booths outside area businesses close up shop Sunday.
To find a cookie booth, customers can go to the “cookie locator” at www.girlscoutcookies.org and enter their ZIP code. Through Sunday, a number of Modesto businesses – O’Brien’s, Save Mart, Safeway, Food Maxx, Lowe’s, Ulta, Golden Corral and more – will continue to let Scouts have booths on their sites.
The Girl Scout Cookie Finder app is also free to download for Android and iPhone users. This year, cookies are $5 per package. Varieties include Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades and Thanks-A-Lots.
In addition to cookie-sale proceeds helping Girl Scouts of the USA and individual troops with their goals, girls learn five important life skills by participating in the cookie program: goal setting, decision-making, money management, business ethics and people skills.
The Girl Scout Cookies program this year continues Project Thank You. Customers can buy cookies at a booth and the troop will donate them to either the American Red Cross Capital Region Chapter to be distributed to VA hospitals and other armed forces facilities, or donate them to local food banks or other charities.
