A man died and two others were injured Sunday after a speed boat and a jet ski crashed at the Modesto Reservoir, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Sheriff’s officials on Sunday afternoon had not released the man’s name, age or city of residence. They did say the man was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The two others injured also were hospitalized. There was no further information about their injuries.

The deadly crash was reported about 11:50 a.m. Sunday. Sheriff’s officials said the boat and the jet ski collided between Berenda Beach and Vivians Cove at the reservoir.

Deputies and firefighters responded to the area and found the three people. The Sheriff’s Department was investigating the crash to determine what circumstances led up to the collision. There were no further details about the crash released Sunday afternoon.
