Catholic youth congress to be held in Modesto on March 21-22
The Catholic Youth and Young Adults Congress 2015/Congreso Juvenil 2015 will be held March 21-22 at Modesto Centre Plaza.
Jose Lopez, director of the Catholic Diocese of Stockton’s Office of Hispanic Youth and Young Adult Ministry, said there will be inspiring conferences in three tracks: one for teenagers, one for quinceañeras and one for young adults (in Spanish).
The theme of the event is “Bringing Faith to the Streets”/“Callejeros de la Fe,” taken from “The Joy of the Gospel,” by Pope Francis.
“Both days will be a wonderful and faith-filled experience,” Lopez said in a news release, “featuring speakers such as Rev. Leandro Fossá from the Missionaries of St. Charles Scalabrinians – an international community of religious serving migrants and refugees of different countries, and international singer Azeneth González from Monterrey, Mexico.”
The Most Rev. Stephen Blaire, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Stockton, will celebrate Mass on March 22.
About 1,200 participants are expected over the weekend, Lopez said. The donation is $5 per day, with registration at the door. The conference runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the plaza, 1000 K St.
