Deadline nears for Modesto Hollis Scholarship

In memory of John L. Hollis, a former Modesto City Schools trustee, Christian Public Servants annually awards several $750 scholarships to qualifying students who plan to have a career in public service. Applications are due March 15. Recipients of the John L. Hollis Scholarships must be either seniors in high school, recent high school graduates or undergraduate college students with a declared intention of preparing for a career in public service, such as teaching, law enforcement, fire safety, nursing or public administration. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement (a GPA of at least 3.0 is required), participation in church and/or other Christian ministries, plus community service.
