Info: The Democratic Women’s Club of Stanislaus general meeting will feature guest speaker Nancy Fisher, president of the Stanislaus Commission on Women, who in celebration of Women’s History Month will present a historical portrait of women. Belinda Rolicheck will provide information on the Haven Women’s Center event “Haven Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.” Other guests will be Virginia Madueño, Assembly District 12 candidate, and Sonia Bustamante, who will give a Nerium skin care overview. Info: The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension presents the 45th annual Quad-County Walnut Institute. Info: The Oakdale Women’s Connection luncheon features a presentation from Fenton Nursery on preparing for spring gardening. The guest speaker is Diana Farling. Lunch and program cost $18. What: TREE PLANTING EVENT

Where: Felipe Garza Park, North Hartley Street at Lorelei Lane
Info: The Patterson Public Works Department is holding a local tree planting event to celebrate California Arbor Week. Trees will be planted by volunteers. YESTERYEARS
75 YEARS AGO: The first session of The Bee’s annual spring cooking school was to be held the next day in the Strand Theater at 2p.m. Host Katherine Kitchen, home economist for McClatchy Newspapers, presented a parade of spring foods. The program was free, and all Modesto district women were invited to attend.
