Six new members of the Legends of the Cruise Walk of Fame were honored Wednesday night in downtown Modesto.

The legends inducted were:

▪ Century Toppers: One of the first racing clubs after WWII whose cars went faster than 100 mph; founded by Gene Winfield & Friends.

▪ Bennie Furtado: One of Modesto’s first hot-rodders – deceased – represented by his family.

▪ Gerry Ramirez: Modesto’s Car Hop – deceased – represented by her son and daughter, Tony and Debra Ramirez, and their kids.

▪ Charlie Reynolds: Represented by his grandson.

▪ Wendell Reed: Modesto’s classic-car collector and American Graffiti supporter.

▪ Dennis Wilson: Hot-rodder and racer; designed Gene Winfield’s shop at 451 Tully Road.

Next year, the Legends of the Cruise will be selected for Walk of Fame inclusion by the current Walk of Fame inductees and the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise Route committee.

The Walk of Fame was announced in 2013 during George Lucas’ visit to Modesto as grand marshal of the American Graffiti Car Show parade. The first 10 markers were unveiled June 4, 2014.
