Coronavirus update, Oct. 8: Stanislaus adds one death. ICU and overall caseloads drop
Stanislaus County added one death to COVID-19 on Thursday and saw a continued drop in intensive care and overall hospital cases.
A total of 1,297 residents have died from the virus since April 2020, the county Health Services Agency said.
Positive tests stood at 75,027 with the 191 reported Thursday. Stanislaus also has 888,092 negative test results and 72,210 people who are presumed recovered.
Other details:
Hospital cases: The county’s five hospitals had 140 patients with confirmed COVID-19 on Thursday, down from 150 on Wednesday. Adults in intensive care dropped by nine to 33.
Positivity rates: On the state dashboard Thursday, where numbers reflect the previous day, the seven-day positivity rate was 6.8%, an increase of 1.2% from the prior seven days. The rolling seven-day rate a month ago was 9.7%.
Vaccines: As of Thursday, 82.8% of eligible county residents (those 12 and older) had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 56.9% were fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

California has administered 51,458,972 vaccine doses as of Thursday, according to the CDC tracker. The state ranks 12th in the country, with 130,236 doses per 100,000 residents. Vermont ranks first, West Virginia 50th among the states.
