Stanislaus County surpasses 100 coronavirus deaths after announcement of 5 more
More than 100 Stanislaus County residents have now died from COVID-19, according to data released by officials late Wednesday afternoon.
The county reported five more deaths, bringing to 103 the number of people who have succumbed to the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
There was no immediate victim information regarding gender, age or prior medical conditions.
It was the 10th straight day the county has announced at least one death, with 40 during that time span. There have been 59 deaths recorded in July, data shows.
The state health department, which releases data on positive cases each morning, reported Thursday that Stanislaus County had 253 new positive test results, bringing to 457 the total number over the last two days.
Over the last 10 days, the county has reported 2,237 new infections for an overall total of 8,745, which ranks 13th worst among the the 58 counties. Stanislaus County is the 16th most populous in the state.
Thursday’s new cases were the 10th most in the state for that day.
Through Wednesday, the county’s overall positivity rate – the percentage of positive test results among all results – stood at 14.5%. In the last 14 days, the rate is at 22.8%, more than three times the state’s 7.5%.
