Three more coronavirus deaths at Turlock nursing home bring its total to 14
Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center announced three more resident deaths to the coronavirus Monday, bringing its total to 14.
The East Tuolumne Road center also said 99 residents and 49 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 in an online update.
Details on the three most recent deaths were not available. The update again noted safety measures, including separate wings for positive and negative cases, screening of employees as they arrive, and use of gloves, masks and other gear.
Deaths countywide
Deaths countywide stood at 21 on Monday, unchanged from Sunday, the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency said. It was not clear whether the latest deaths at the Turlock center were part of the 21.
The county reported 508 people testing positive as of Monday and 7,451 testing negative. All of the 21 deaths were people 50 or older.
County board meeting
The latest news from Turlock came on the eve of a county Board of Supervisors discussion on the steps toward easing restrictions on business and other activities. The board on Tuesday morning will weigh concerns about spreading the virus with the economic toll the measures have had.
Officials continue to urge people to wash their hands and touched surfaces carefully. They should keep at least 6 feet from non-household members when shopping, exercising or doing essential jobs.
