Stanislaus County coronavirus deaths rise by 1, positive cases reaches 400

Coronavirus deaths in Stanislaus County rose to 14 and the number of people testing positive reached 400, health officials reported.

New numbers were released late Saturday afternoon, and the number of deaths tied to the disease grew by one.

There was no immediate information about the latest recorded victim, including whether they were linked to the Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where seven people have died.

Of the positive tests, Modesto has a county-high 109 followed by Turlock at 107.

The rate of positive tests stood at 6.6%, which has leveled off since it rose following the cases out of Turlock. The 400 positive cases were out of 6,086 tests, according to county figures.

The county does caution on its website that “due to the limited testing capacity, the information reported represents only a small portion of the likely total COVID-19 cases in the county. “

Two new testing sites are set to open Monday — one in Keyes and the other in Patterson. Those are in addition to one that opened last month in Salida.

We’ll have more on this story as information becomes available.
