Domestic violence call turns into standoff near major Fresno intersection

A portion of a major Fresno street was blocked off this morning amid a standoff between Fresno officers and a domestic violence suspect.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call at the 4500 block of E. Fountain Way around 3:30 a.m., Fresno police spokesperson Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

Officers removed the victim from the area and received information that the suspect was armed with an unknown weapon, Trueba Vega said.

When officers made entry, they did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is wanted for felony domestic violence.

Officers blocked off a portion of Shields Avenue located between State Route 168 and Maple Avenue amid the investigation.

A BearCat armored vehicle was on the scene, along with crisis negotiators.
