Teen killed at Visalia graduation party identified. He was about to graduate

An 18-year-old killed at a graduation party in Visalia over the weekend was identified Monday.

The victim of the fatal shooting was Antonio Monroe of Visalia, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ashley Schwarm confirmed.

A GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses has been created following Monroe’s death.

Per the fundraiser, Monroe was killed shortly before his high school graduation. According to ABC30, Monroe grew up in Visalia but relocated to Lemoore about five years ago.

On Sunday, the Lemoore Union High School District superintendent addressed the death of a student in a post on social media; the district on Monday said it cannot confirm the ID of the student who died.

“The loss of a member of our school community impacts us all, and we recognize that students and staff may experience a range of emotions during this difficult time. Counselors and support staff will be available to provide assistance to any student who may need support. As a school community, we ask that everyone keep the student’s family and loved ones in their thoughts and respect their privacy during this time,” superintendent Miguel Guerrero said.

The shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. Saturday in Visalia. Responding officers found that Monroe was shot multiple times, and he died at a nearby hospital.

Three other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.
