New IKEA store to open in Northern California. Here’s how far you’ll need to drive
IKEA is opening a new store in Northern California — but with a twist.
The popular home furnishings chain will open a Plan and Order Point store in Manteca in the fall of 2025, offering a more personalized shopping experience.
Instead of walking warehouse aisles, customers can meet with IKEA design experts to plan and order furniture for rooms, including the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or living room. However, you won’t be able to take anything home the same day. Items can be delivered or scheduled for pickup.
The new store format is part of IKEA’s push to make shopping more accessible and convenient for customers, but if you’re craving popular food court favorites such as Swedish meatballs, you’ll still need to visit a full-size IKEA store.
Where is new IKEA store in Northern California?
IKEA will open at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley in Manteca, off Highway 120.
The shopping center also houses Bass Pro Shops, JCPenney, Banana Republic and Guess stores, as well as an AMC movie theater.
According to Google Maps, it takes about 25 minutes to drive from downtown Modesto to the Manteca mall, and about an hour to travel there from Merced or downtown Sacramento.
Folks driving from Fresno can expect to be on the road for at least an hour and 45 minutes, Google Maps indicated.
When is IKEA location opening in Manteca?
IKEA will open its Manteca location to shoppers in November.

There are currently six IKEA stores open across Northern California, including several locations in the Bay Area.
The new Manteca store will be the seventh in the region.
