What are the hottest housing markets in California? These ZIP codes made the list
Shopping for a home? California has two of the hottest housing markets in the nation, according to Realtor.com.
The real estate website recently ranked the Top 50 Hottest ZIP Codes in the United States based on market demand and the number of days listings remain active on Realtor.com.
“The hottest areas are those that have high demand from buyers,” Realtor.com said in an Aug. 19 article, indicating “lots of unique viewers per each property listed for sale and fast-selling homes, an indicator of limited supply.”
The No. 1 ZIP code on the list — 43230 in Gahanna, Ohio — topped Realtor.com’s rankings for the second year in a row, thanks to its affordable homes, high quality of life and proximity to the Columbus metropolitan area.
The median listing price for local properties was $345,000, and homes spent a median of 11 days on the market.
The second hottest ZIP code for homebuyers was 63201 in Ballwin, Missouri, Realtor.com said, while 01970 in Salem, Massachusetts, came in third place.

How did Realtor.com come up with rankings?
Realtor.com based its Hottest Zip Code rankings on an algorithm looking at two aspects of the housing market: market demand, measured by unique viewers per property on Realtor.com, and the pace of the market, measured by the number of days a listing remains active on Realtor.com.
Hotness rankings are based on Realtor.com listing data from January to June 2024.
The site’s list of top zip codes was limited to one zip code per metropolitan area.
