Winning jackpot in the lottery would be a dream, and for hundreds and millions of people, it will stay that way.

The Mega Millions jackpot is at $1.35 billion — the fourth largest of all time — and the drawing’s on Friday. And while after taxes, you won’t see those exact numbers in your bank account — $851,611,350 after 30 annual payments or $415,522,045 cash payout in California, to be exact — it’s still a lot more than what you started with.

But how likely are you to win the lottery?

The odds of winning the Mega Million

According to Mega Millions website, the odds of matching all six winning numbers and getting the jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350.

In this case, you’re more likely to get bitten by a white shark in California, if you’re a surfer, with the odds at 1-in-17 million, according to Sharks Stewards.

If you get five digits without the gold Mega Ball number, you’ll win $1 million.

But that’s only if you’re the lucky 1 in 12,607,306. With this, you have a better chance of having twins at 3-in-100; finding a four-leaf clover at 1-in-10,000; or getting struck by lightning in a given year at less than one in a million.

You are more than likely going to match one or two digits. If you get the Mega Ball number, which is a 1 in 37 chance, you’ll win a whopping $2. A regular number and Mega Ball number will get you $4 if you are the one of 89 people.
