A rock climber died after falling 80 feet in a California national park, sheriff’s officials said.

A woman was rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park when she fell, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department told McClatchy News.

Park officials identified her as Tina Lynn Fiori, 51 , of Riverside County, according to a news release.

Deputies responded to the incident around 3:53 p.m. in the Sheep Pass Campground on Saturday, March 26, the sheriff’s department said.

Officials said there weren’t signs of foul play and “all witness accounts were consistent.”

“Our hearts go out to Ms. Fiori’s family and friends during this extremely painful time,” park superintendent David Smith said.

A 35-year-old man from San Diego died in the national park in January. Michael Spitz was found dead near a hiking trail in the park, the National Park Service said.

The national park is in Southern California.
