Woman found trapped upside down in chimney rescued in California, police say
A woman lodged headfirst in a chimney for an hour was pulled free by rescuers in California, fire officials said.
Authorities responded to the call around 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, in Paradise Hills, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief David Pilkerton told McClatchy News.
The woman’s mother called police and said her daughter was creating a “disturbance” before crawling into the chimney, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
The 30-year-old woman was stuck 10 to 15 feet inside the chimney and was having a difficult time breathing, Pilkerton said. She was trapped for nearly an hour before she was freed by rescuers, he said.
Rescuers used a rope and wrench system to pull her to the top of the chimney, KSWB-TV reported.
She was taken to a hospital for unknown injuries, officials said.
