Five of mugger’s 11 victims track him down and wrestle his gun away, California cops say
A man armed with a gun mugged 11 people in a Southern California park until five of his victims tracked him down and confronted him, Coronado police reported.
The man brandished a gun and demanded phones and other valuables from a couple sitting on a Centennial Park bench at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, police said in a news release.
He then robbed five people on the other side of the park, police said.
The mugger later encountered a woman in a parking lot, demanded valuables and struck her repeatedly in the head with his gun, according to police.
When three other park visitors happened across the assault, the gunman also robbed them, police said.
The five people he had earlier robbed found the mugger near the Ferry Landing and confronted him, wrestling his gun away, the release said.
The mugger fled in a vehicle, police said. Two people who confronted the man had minor injuries and the woman he had beaten was hospitalized.
Police ask anyone with information or videos of the attacks to call 619-522-7350.
Coronado is a city of about 24,000 on a peninsula across San Diego Bay from the city of San Diego.
