A 34-year-old man was arrested at a California train station after Antioch police discovered his 30-year-old girlfriend and 15-year-old son dead, officers say.

Officers called to check on a neighbor spotted a 15-year-old boy on the floor in a California apartment on the night of Saturday, Jan. 29, police reported.

When the teen did not respond, officers entered and found he was dead, along with a 30-year-old woman in an upstairs room, Antioch police said in a news release.

Both “suffered from obvious trauma,” police said, although the release did not describe how they died.

A Redwood City police officer later arrested a 34-year-old man at a train station in connection with the case, police said. He was the woman’s boyfriend and the teen’s father.

No names will be released while the investigation into the deaths continues, police said.

“Heartbreaking incidents like this can have a profound effect on our community,” police wrote. “The Antioch Police Department would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of this unspeakable tragedy.”

Antioch is a city of 115,000 in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
