A 2-year-old was found roaming a street near San Bernardino wearing only a diaper on a chilly morning, California deputies said.

Deputies discovered the toddler at 8:38 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in Muscoy, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The child also had unexplained injuries, the release said. Deputies found the 2-year-old’s parents, ages 32 and 34, asleep in a nearby residence.

The home was deemed uninhabitable for health and safety reasons, deputies said. After an investigation, the child’s parents were arrested on suspicion of child abuse with great bodily injury.

The toddler was taken to a hospital.

Muscoy is a community of about 12,000 people north of San Bernardino.

Deputies ask that anyone with information call 909-387-3545 or leave an anonymous tip a 1-800-78-27463.
