Chihuahua covered in ticks had 17 rounds of chemotherapy. He found a new home in CA
When Eric the 3-year-old chihuahua came to a humane society in California, he was covered in ticks and had blood on his paws.
He was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor and a tick-borne disease called Ehrlichiosis, the San Diego Humane Society said. Veterinarians began treatment right away in July.
“Because Eric’s illness would require months of treatment, he was placed with a dedicated foster family who would care for him and bring him in for regular medical appointments during his recovery,” the humane society said Nov. 13 on Facebook.
After 17 rounds of chemotherapy, the chihuahua had a clean bill of health to find his new home. He was adopted just two days later, the humane society said.
“Four months and 17 rounds of chemotherapy later, everyone who cared for Eric is thrilled to see that this resilient pup is now cancer free, healthy and available for adoption,” the humane society said.
