Cow chases hikers, leading to helicopter rescue in California, video shows
An aggrieved cow gave chase to two hikers Sunday morning near Vallejo before a helicopter came to their rescue, a California Highway Patrol video shows.
The hikers, an older couple, had fallen and suffered injuries while being chased at Lynch Canyon Regional Park, CHP officers wrote on Facebook.
The couple had tried to go around the cow, which charged them, CHP officers wrote in a comment on the Facebook post. A CHP helicopter crew called to the scene found a cow and calf standing nearby.
The crew activated the helicopter’s sirens to drive the animals away, CHP officers reported.
After lifting both hikers 75 feet to the helicopter, the crew flew them to the trailhead to be taken to a hospital, the post says.
The same helicopter took part in two other rescues Sunday, one involving two teens who were hurt jumping from a rock into Lake Berryessa and the other a hiker who fell on the Blue Ridge Trail.
