Video showing ‘fist-fight’ over racist slur in Sacramento-area gas station goes viral
A cell phone video showing two women in an altercation this week over the use of a racial slur has gone viral.
The video, which was first reported by TMZ, gained 4 million views on Twitter about 24 hours after it was posted and shows a white woman wearing a surgical mask using the N-word while arguing with a Black woman, and the situation then escalating to a physical fight.
Sgt. Tess Deterding, spokeswoman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, said the dispatch center received a call regarding the fight at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The caller reported the two women in a fist-fight inside the store.
Deputies were dispatched the scene and on the way they were updated that one person was injured. When deputies arrived, the Black woman was no longer at the scene.
The injured woman told deputies she took responsibility for her part in the altercation and did not want to file a report, Deterding said.
Fire personnel responded to the scene and treated the woman for minor injuries.
Deterding said the woman called the Sheriff’s Office dispatch center the next day and said she had decided to file a report. At this point, the Sheriff’s Office does not have any suspect description and no arrests have been made, Deterding said.
