Elementary school janitor accused of raping a teenager, California police say
An elementary school janitor has been arrested and charged for sex crimes, including rape, against a minor.
Anthony Martin Minatre, 51, was a janitor at Stella Brockman Elementary School in Manteca and has been employed there since 2013, according to the Manteca Bulletin.
He was booked into Stanislaud County Jail on Jan. 22 on charges of rape, “oral copulation with a minor,” and committing a lewd act “against a 14 or 15-year-old child if the defendant was at least 10 years older at the time,” according to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department public records.
Minatre is being held on $300,000 bail, according to records.
The child wasn’t a Manteca Unified student and the crime happened in a different county, according to the Manteca Bulletin. The school district released a statement on the crime.
“Although the arrest did not occur on school property or while performing any actions of the district, it is our District’s intent to fully cooperate with the Modesto Police Department,” the Manteca Unified statement read. “The employee will not be on campus during the investigation.
“Additionally, we will aggressively pursue appropriate administrative action up to the removal of the employee. The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority, and all safety policies and procedures continue to be followed.”
