‘Check your door handles!’ Southern California deputies warn of hidden razor blades
Deputies in Southern California have issued a warning to local drivers and passengers.
“Check your door handles!” Riverside County deputies in Temecula said in a Facebook post.
That’s because razor blades were reportedly discovered on a car’s door handle in the Inland Empire city on Friday around 11 a.m., the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Monday.
“The investigation revealed that the razor blades were placed in a manner likely to cause injury,” deputies said, though “no one was injured during the incident.”
Then, the next day around 9:30 a.m., a deputy responded to a Temecula resident reporting that one razor blade had been discovered on the front of his or her vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
“During this investigation, it was undetermined why the razor was left on a vehicle,” deputies said. “It does not appear to be related to the incident that occurred on January 9.”
The Facebook post — which was published Saturday and features two pictures of the blades — has been shared more than 3,000 times.
Deputies asked the public to “to use caution when opening their vehicle doors” and report anything suspicious to authorities.
“Anyone with additional information is urged to call the Southwest Sheriff’s Station at (951) 696-3000,” deputies said.
