Driver knocked out by sucker punch in road rage attack caught on video, LA cops say
A New Year’s Day road rage confrontation caught on video left one man hospitalized and Los Angeles Police Department detectives looking for the three male suspects responsible, police said in a press release.
On Jan. 1, a man was in his car and stopped at a red light in Van Nuys, California, according to the release. A Jeep had been driving erratically and stopped behind him. Both cars pulled to the curb and the drivers and passengers got out of their cars.
During the assault, one of the suspects punched the man, knocking him unconscious, video shows. The suspects then got back into their Jeep and fled the scene.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital and “he has not regained consciousness,” according to the release.
The men were last seen driving on Woodman Avenue in a black Jeep with California license plates, police said.
The suspects are all between 20 and 30 years old. The man who was seen punching the victim is described as having short black hair, weighing around 150 pounds, 5-foot-10, and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, and white shirt. The second suspect is a man with black hair, 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and light blue pants. The third suspect has black hair, is 5-foot-9, 140 pounds, and was wearing a white shirt, dark jacket, and dark pants.
LAPD has urged anyone with more information to call Van Nuys Area Detective R. Secor at 818-374-0062.
