Hotel guest at odds over New Year’s Eve swinger party at DoubleTree Hotel

A guest of the DoubleTree Hotel off Arden Way was flustered after learning he had booked a room for his family the same night of a swinger party celebrating New Year’s Eve.

The 21 and up event is slated to be held in the DoubleTree’s grand ballroom, which promotional materials say will host more than 800 attendees in 10,000 square feet of dance space and seating, and more than 5,000 square feet of play space, which will house a dungeon room featuring a St. Andrew’s cross, multi-positional horse and swing.

Fox 40 (KTXL) interviewed a father of four, who spoke to the station anonymously and who unknowingly booked a room in the hotel the night of the event, while in town for a family celebration.

“People that are spending good money to stay at the Hilton should be aware of what’s going on under their nose, especially if they have families,” he told Fox 40. (DoubleTree is Hilton brand.) “And, you know, there’s a hot tub there and there’s crazies in the hot tub.”

According to Allures, the club hosting the event, attendees are able to book rooms on a floor separate from other guests. DoubleTree General Manager Royce Pollard gave a statement to The Sacramento Bee, but declined to answer any questions.

“There’s a private event at the hotel tonight,” Pollard said. “We take the comfort and privacy of all our guests very seriously. As with any large event, the utmost care is taken to assure there are no disruptions to other guests. With that being said, we understand that if a guest feels uncomfortable for any reason we’d be happy to cancel their reservation and refund them their money.”

However, the father of four said the hotel was unwilling remedy his grievance.

“Pay money and not get a refund pisses me off. They were kind of rude to me,” he told Fox 40. “They actually sent me a survey on my phone, like within the last hour. They asked if they helped me out and I wrote poor, poor, poor, poor. No, you did not help me out. You won’t give me my money back.”
