Avengers assemble! Superhero-themed campus to open at Disneyland Resort next summer

It might be awhile before the Avengers next assemble at the movie theater, but in summer 2020 the superhero team will be on hand at Disney California Adventure in a new themed campus, Disney announced Wednesday.

Now under construction, Avengers Campus will open at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, with an initial Spider-Man ride, restaurant and costumed characters, Disney says.

The as-yet unnamed Spider-Man ride will have visitors helping out the web-slinging hero as he tries to round up Spider-Bots running amok, according to Disney.

The Pym Test Kitchen eatery, based on the Ant-Man and Wasp characters, will use “the latest innovations to grow and shrink food,” the company says.

Costumed characters planned for Avengers Campus will include Black Widow, Ant-Man, Wasp, Dr. Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, and heroes from Asgard and Wakanda, Disney reports.

An Avengers-themed ride will open in the second phase of the new land, the company says.

The Avengers Campus replaces A Bug’s Land near the rethemed Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride, formerly the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, McClatchy News previously reported.
