Video shows woman try to kidnap boy at McDonald’s, LA cops say. Then she tried again
Security video shows a young woman walk up to a 4-year-old boy inside a Los Angeles McDonald’s on Tuesday, then pick him up and hurriedly walk out, KNBC reports.
A bystander stopped her from putting the boy in a vehicle, but the next day the same woman apparently tried to kidnap a different 4-year-old boy elsewhere in the city, KCBS reported.
Los Angeles police arrested Maralyn Ramos, 33, Wednesday night at Agatha Street and San Pedro Street on suspicion of the crimes, KTLA reported. She’s being held on $100,000 bail.
Detectives had earlier released a video of Tuesday’s incident in hopes of identifying the woman, KABC reported.
The incident Tuesday took place at 3:15 p.m. inside a McDonald’s in the 1300 block of East Olympic Boulevard, KNBC reported. Police say the woman ran away after a bystander stopped her from putting the child in a parked vehicle.
At 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, police believe the same woman tried to walk off with another 4-year-old boy at Martin Luther King Boulevard and San Pedro Street, KABC reported.
“The suspect went ahead and grabbed the little child’s hand and tried to take him with her,” said Officer Mike Lopez, KCBS reported. “She even said in Spanish ‘come with me.’ ”
A family member walking with the child stopped the woman from leaving with him, and she ran away, KNBC reported.
Police asked that anyone with information on the attempted kidnappings call detectives F. Arroyo or D. Moreno at 213-486-6840, KNBC reported.
