Modesto is getting an Old Navy clothing store. When will it open?
Old Navy is where my mother would take me back-to-school shopping for stylish clothes as I entered junior high and high school in Manteca. I distinctly remember being amazed by the wall of every-color-imaginable flip-flops for $1.
The popular clothing store was also one of my first employers some 16 years ago when I lived in Las Vegas for a short time, and has long been my family’s go-to place for matching Fourth of July outfits. Old Navy seems to be part of every stage of my life, as one is now opening in Modesto — and I get to write about it.
Old Navy will open in Vintage Faire Mall this fall, marketing manager Amy Thompson said. It will be on the lower level near JC Penney.
“I do not have the exact square footage, but it is going to be a considerable size store,” Thompson said.
Old Navy was established in 1994, opening its first store on March 19 in Colma. A Gap Inc. brand, it is now one of the largest apparel brands in the world with more than 1,200 stores.
