New Modesto shop serving ice cream that is legendary in Sacramento. Here’s where
Is there ever a wrong time to eat ice cream? Not according to a business that just opened in Modesto.
The cold weather didn’t stop King Cones from beginning to serve ice cream Dec. 21, and it hasn’t stopped customers from enjoying McHenry Village’s newest shop.
The reason Amaryssa King wanted to open the shop is simple: Her family loves ice cream.
Previously an event coordinator, King said she considered going into the catering business before she decided to “lock down a storefront instead.”
“We are a husband-and-wife team ready to serve quality ice cream to our community,” King said.
King Cones serves Gunther’s Ice Cream and real fruit freezes — a Sacramento staple since 1940.
According to the Gunther’s website, its recipe “includes a higher percentage of butterfat cream than commercial brands” to produce rich, smooth ice cream. Gunther’s Ice Cream is served only at the historic, landmark location in Sacramento and at select restaurants and specialty shops — like King Cones.
