Revolving sushi bar coming to Modesto. Here’s where you can find it

A new restaurant coming to Modesto is putting sushi on the move.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will open in Vintage Faire Mall at 3401 Dale Road in Suite 654, next to Men’s Warehouse and across from the Apple store. The site was previously home to Fire Bar & Grill and Buckhorn BBQ before that.

An opening date has not been announced, and a Tuesday afternoon trip to the restaurant revealed that Central Valley Demolition is working on what looks to be a complete interior renovation.

Kura Sushi USA, Inc. was established in 2008 as a subsidiary of Kura Sushi, Inc. — a Japanese chain that opened its first restaurant in 1977 as a typical sushi spot, according to previous McClatchy reporting. Almost a decade later, the conveyer-belt concept was born.

The company now has more than 550 locations across Japan, Taiwan and the United States, according to its website.

The restaurants use ingredients free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives and colorings.

In addition to sushi, Kura sells ramen, udon, sides including gyoza and dessert.

There are 21 open Kura locations in California including Sacramento, Roseville, Pleasanton, San Jose and San Francisco.
