A popular Modesto food truck court has gained a new tenant — one that customers may recognize from another downtown spot.

The Double B’s Burgers trailer opened in Paradise Plaza on I Street in late September. Brothers and co-owners Brandon Benefield and Brian Bettencourt decided to leave the food truck court at the end of December to focus on opening their Beckwith Road restaurant.

The brothers’ plan was to just open a food trailer, but the brick-and-mortar “fell in (their) lap” when they discovered Magnolia Southern Kitchen was going out of business, Benefield told The Bee in September.

Benefield and Bettencourt opened Double B’s Burgers restaurant at 4937 Beckwith Road on Feb. 4. After a few months of getting settled, they decided to once again find a downtown location to park their trailer.

An agreement was made, papers were signed and the Double B’s trailer became the newest tenant of Modesto Grub Hubs, at 621 Ninth St., on Tuesday.

Double B’s serves burgers, burnt-end sausages, chicken wings, loaded fries and onion rings, milkshakes and more.

The restaurant and the trailer have the same operating hours, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
