Hosting Thanksgiving but don’t want to cook? These Modesto restaurants offer meals to go

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, you may find yourself rushing to get everything purchased and prepared if you’re hosting.

Or maybe the thought of cooking seems more laborious as the date gets closer. Maybe you never planned to cook in the first place.

If that’s the case, Modesto restaurants have you covered, offering plenty of small and large meals available to go.

The Modesto Bee has complied a guide for you to compare prices and options.

Where can I get a Thanksgiving meal to go in Modesto?

Black Bear Diner, 2200 Plaza Parkway, offers individually boxed meals and buffet-style boxes. Individually boxed meals are $15 each and must be ordered in a minimum quantity of 10 boxes. Options are roasted turkey breast or smoked ham with red-skin mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, roasted broccoli and carrots, cornbread stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Buffet meals are $225 for 12 people and include a roasted turkey breast or smoked ham option, with sides including red-skin mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, roasted broccoli and carrots, cornbread stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Famous Dave’s, 3401 Dale Road, Building C, will have pickup meals available Nov. 25-28. All meals are served hot. The small feast serves four to five people and comes with two pounds of sliced hickory smoked turkey breast and two pounds of Texas beef brisket for $119.99. Sides include one quart garlic red-skin mashed potatoes, one quart of cornbread stuffing, one quart of Dave’s Mac & Cheese, one pint of gravy and five cornbread muffins.

The large feast serves eight to 10 people and comes with double the turkey, double the brisket and double the sides for $219.99. The whole turkey feast serves 10 to 12 and comes with a 14- to 16-pound turkey for $209.99. Sides include three quarts of cornbread stuffing, three quarts of garlic red-skin mashed potatoes, three quarts of Dave’s Mac & Cheese, one quart of gravy and 15 cornbread muffins.

All meals require 72-hour notice to prepare.

Golden Corral, 3737 McHenry Ave., has to-go holiday meals that serve six to eight people. Options are a whole turkey meal for $169.99, a glazed ham meal for $169.99 and a bone-in pork roast meal for $119.99. The meals include mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, a dozen yeast rolls with honey butter, a choice of side dish and a whole pie. They can be ordered ready to eat or heat and serve and must be ordered 72 hours in advance.

Individual meals are $17.99 for turkey or ham and $12.99 for pork roast. They include a choice of two sides, as well as rolls and cookies. The meals are available to go after 4 p.m. There is no minimum quantity.

Johnny Carino’s, 3401 Dale Road, Building C, is taking Thanksgiving meal preorders until Friday. The turkey feast serves six to eight and come with three pounds of roasted, sliced turkey, a half pint of gravy, one quart of cornbread stuffing, one quart of red-skin mashed potatoes, one quart of candied yams, one quart of vegetable medley, a half cup of cranberry sauce, house salad, four loaves of fresh baked bread and a whole pumpkin pie. The price is $139.99.

The extra turkey feast is $174.98 and comes all of the same size fixings, but with 4.5 pounds of turkey and 2.25 pints of gravy to serve eight to 10 people. For a smaller group, a turkey family platter is available. It serves four and comes with 1.5 pounds of turkey, 12 ounces of gravy, a half quart of cornbread stuffing, a half quart of mashed potatoes, 15 candied yams, 3/4 quart of vegetable medley, four tablespoons of cranberry sauce, four side salads, four slices of pumpkin pie and two loaves of bread. The price is $74.99.

The meals are available for pickup Nov. 25-28. Orders picked up Nov. 25-27 will be served cold. Heating instructions will be provided to reheat at home. Orders picked up on Thanksgiving Day will be served hot.

Mimi’s Cafe, 3401 Dale Road, is offering pickup meals served cold between Nov. 20-27. The turkey and ham feast serves up to 10 people and includes a 10- to 13-pound whole herb-buttered turkey, five pounds of smoked ham with orange glaze, gravy, cranberry orange relish, mashed potatoes, candied pecan mashed sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing and green bean casserole with crispy onion strings. It also comes with two carrot raisin nut loaves, one pumpkin and one pecan pie for dessert. The price is $219.99.

The turkey-only and ham-only meals serve 8-10 and are $179.99. They come with the same sides and desserts. A “just the sides” package can also be ordered for $94.99.

O’Brien’s Market, 4120 Dale Road and 839 W. Roseburg Ave., has small and large turkey or ham dinners for preorder to pick up between Nov. 25-29. The small turkey dinner feeds four to six people for $99. It comes with a turkey of 12 pounds or more, one quart of mashed potatoes, one pint of turkey gravy, one quart of stuffing, one quart of candied yams, one pint of cranberry relish, one dozen freshly baked rolls and an 8-inch pie.

The small honey-glazed ham dinner feeds four to six people for $58.99. It comes with a four-pound ham and one quart of mashed potatoes, one quart of green beans with bacon, one quart of glazed carrots, one dozen rolls and an 8-inch pie.

The large turkey dinner feeds eight to 10 people and comes with a turkey of at least 14 pounds and double the sides as the small dinner, for $129.99. The large ham dinner feeds eight to 10 people and comes with a ham of at least seven pounds and double the sides as the small dinner, for $82.99.

Popeyes, 2080 W. Briggsmore Ave., is selling a Cajun-style turkey for $99.99. It feeds 8-12 people and comes delivered, precooked and frozen. Sides are extra.
