Former Bed Bath & Beyond location is getting a new tenant. Here’s when the store will open
After filing for bankruptcy, Bed Bath & Beyond closed its Modesto store in June 2023. The building has been vacant since.
Now, another retailer is moving into the space. Burlington soon will have a second Modesto location — at 3900 Sisk Road.
Burlington is scheduled to open March 28, 2025, according to its website. It will sit between a T.J. Maxx and a Ross.
The company was established over 50 years ago as Burlington Coat Factory, selling off-price coats out of a factory building in Burlington, New Jersey, according to the website.
Now called Burlington, the stores sell low-priced and brand-name women’s, men’s, kids and baby apparel and accessories, home decor items and more.
Modesto’s first location is next to a Safeway at 2001 McHenry Ave., Suite 202.
Its hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is unknown whether the Sisk Road store will have the same hours.
Burlington in, Big Lots out
While Burlington is moving into Sisk Road Center, another major retailer is moving out.
Big Lots announced in July that its shuttering some stores due to loss of sales, meaning, the 3900 Sisk Road store will be closing on an unannounced date.
City of Modesto Community & Economic Development director Jessica Hill previously told The Modesto Bee the city is working with commercial brokers to figure out what Modesto may be lacking and what residents want, in order to help facilitate what will go into the Big Lots building next.
Ultimately, any deal will be made between the property owner and the business, Hill said in July.
