Mitsubishi Quietly Reveals The New Pajero's Interior For The First Time
First Glimpse of the Cabin
The Pajero comeback is officially happening – that's official at this point. Mitsubishi has already confirmed its iconic body-on-frame SUV will break cover this fall, and the brand has been drip-feeding us teasers for months. We've already seen enough exterior shots to know it's keeping those classic, tough-guy proportions, but the interior? That's been locked away – until recently.
That all changed thanks to a sneaky promo video on Mitsubishi's official YouTube channel. The clip recaps Star Camp 2026 in Asagiri Kogen, where a lucky few got to check out the new flagship SUV up close. The camera crew tried their best to keep things under wraps, but if you're quick with the pause button, you can catch a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of the cabin.
From what little we can see, the new Pajero's cabin is a big step up from its predecessors. Think black-on-beige color scheme, which instantly makes things more expensive. The door panels even get some stitched trim, hinting that Mitsubishi is finally taking interior quality seriously. It's just a teaser, but it's clear they want the Pajero to feel more refined – without losing that tough edge.
Premium Direction
The folks who got to see the new Pajero up close seemed genuinely impressed. According to the video (roughly translated from Japanese), guests said it looked even better in person, with some calling it stylish and praising its mix of muscle and class. Those lucky enough to hop inside raved about the roomy cabin, cushy seats, and a surprising dose of luxury.ce, soft seats, and an overall sense of luxury.
Mitsubishi kept the specs under wraps, but if these first impressions are anything to go by, the new Pajero isn't just about conquering the wild. It looks like Mitsubishi wants it to be just as good on road trips and daily commutes as it is on muddy trails.
Makes sense, really. Today's SUV buyers want their cake and to eat it too: plush interiors and real off-road chops. And it fits what we already know about the SUV – it will come in three flavors.
Is It Coming to America?
Under the skin, the new Pajero borrows the Triton pickup's ladder-frame chassis, but Mitsubishi is tweaking the suspension and cabin to make sure this flagship SUV stands out. The recipe is familiar: real off-road muscle paired with a ride you won't hate on the highway.
And what about North America? Things are looking up. Word is, Mitsubishi dealers in the US got an early look at the SUV, where it'll probably go by the Montero name. Dealers called it a premium, boxy flagship loaded with modern tech. But don't get too excited yet – an American launch is still a ways off and nothing's official.
