Farmers markets will have coupons for low-income seniors
Low-income seniors can get $20 worth of coupons for use at six farmers markets in Stanislaus County.
The distribution will be May 26 at the Modesto Certified Farmers Market and in June or July at the others.
The Area Agency on Aging is providing the coupons first come, first served, with federal funding. Seniors can use them to buy fruit, vegetables, herbs and honey.
The program is for people 60 or older who have a monthly income of up to $1,815 if they live alone or $2,456 for a two-person household.
The schedule:
Modesto: 8 to 10 a.m. May 26 at the Stanislaus County Library, next to the market at 16th and I streets. The distribution will be part of Senior Awareness Day.
Hughson: 4 to 6 p.m. June 2 at Hughson and Charles avenues
Oakdale: 5 to 7 p.m. June 8 at Third and E streets
Riverbank: 5 to 7 p.m. June 15 at the Riverbank Community Center, Santa Fe and Sixth streets
Turlock: 8 to 10 a.m. June 25 at the Stanislaus County Fairground’s Soderquist Road entrance
Patterson: 4 to 6 p.m. July 13 at the True Value parking lot, 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave.
