Brielle Prock, 12, part of a dairy farming family near Denair, will head to Chicago next month to promote healthy eating and exercise.

She is one of three students who will represent California as “ambassadors” at the Fuel Up to Play 60 leadership summit, July 22 to 25. The campaign, a partnership with the National Football League, urges young people to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day and to eat nutrient-rich foods.

The California Milk Advisory Board chose Brielle, daughter of Ray and Erica Prock, along with two students from La Quinta, Riverside County.

Brielle said this week that as part of the campaign, she hopes to organize a baseball team at Denair Middle School, where she just completed sixth grade. She will meet NFL players at the Chicago event and take part in fitness activities and a cook-off.

“Brielle has a tremendous passion for Fuel Up to Play 60,” said Jennifer Giambroni, the board’s director of communications, in a news release. “She is dedicated to creating sustainable change at her school and in her local community.”

Fuel Up to Play 60 has helped more than 73,000 schools across the nation with wellness efforts, such as smoothie stands and walking clubs. It encourages students to eat low-fat and fat-free dairy products, along with fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

The partnership also includes the National Dairy Council and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

On Wednesday, the campaign stopped by Santa Nella to celebrate Romero Elementary School’s participation. The event included an appearance by former NFL quarterback David Carr, who led students in fitness drills. He is the older brother of current Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who appeared at the Turlock Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast in April.
