Motorcyclist badly hurt in Carpenter Road collision
A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after being struck by a minivan Sunday afternoon on Carpenter Road, according to Modesto police.
The driver of a Ford van heading east on Cummins Drive stopped at the sign where it dead-ends into North Carpenter. But Eugene Nordic, 69, then pulled out, failing to yield to the motorcyclist coming south on Carpenter, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.
The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. The name of the Harley-Davidson rider, a 41-year-old Sacramento man, was not immediately available Monday afternoon. On Sunday, he was in critical condition at a local hospital, Graves said.
Nordic also was transported to a hospital, but the severity of his injuries and his condition were not available Monday.
