MID makes interim manager permanent
Greg Salyer, the Modesto Irrigation District’s interim general manager since September, was given the permanent job this week in a closed-door meeting of the MID board.
Salyer followed the same path as his predecessor, Roger VanHoy, as both were assistant general manager over electrical resources before ascending to the utility’s helm. VanHoy three years earlier had succeeded Allen Short, who led the district for 19 years before retiring in late 2012.
Salyer’s annual pay is $225,000. Also this week, the MID board approved a 5 percent wage increase, to $178,367, for general counsel Ronda Lucas, who was hired in January.
