Ceres officers edge fire department in Battle of the Badges
Nearly 100 people showed up at the Ceres Community Center to donate blood during the Battle of the Badges blood drive on Tuesday.
This was the second year the Ceres police and fire departments competed to see who can bring in more blood donors.
Donors could cast votes for either the police or fire department and receive a Battle of the Badges T-shirt. Police Detective Carlos Quiroz started the event last year.
The police won last year and did it again this year with 72.5 votes for police and 23.5 for fire. There were 75 total donors and 22 others were unable to donate due to health reasons but still got to cast votes.
