75 YEARS AGO: Mayor R.A. Jones of Merced requested that the City Council delay any action that would decide the future of a proposed municipal airport. He had stated that the city appropriated $100,000 in funding for the purpose of purchasing materials for buildings at the new site. The request to wait on the decision for the airport was contingent upon a meeting in Sacramento of the Civil Aeronautics Board.
